Three numbers cover a whole facility: 2 – 4 – 9. Routine is 2, heavy cleaning is 4, parvo is 9. If a team member remembers nothing else, they can run a compliant program.
What the routine 2 oz/gal covers
At 2 oz per gallon (a 660 ppm active quat solution), the label’s kill lists span the pathogens animal facilities actually meet: Bordetella bronchiseptica (kennel cough), E. coli and Salmonella, Staph including MRSA, Pseudomonas, canine coronavirus, canine distemper virus, canine influenza, feline calicivirus, influenza A, SARS-CoV-2, and the ringworm fungus Trichophyton, among many others. The efficacy testing behind those claims was run in 400 ppm hard water with a 5% soil load — meaning the label rate already assumes imperfect, real-world conditions.
Why 9 oz/gal exists
Parvovirus is a non-enveloped virus — a bare, tough protein shell that shrugs off dilutions that kill enveloped viruses easily. The label meets it with more chemistry: 9 oz per gallon delivers roughly 2,970 ppm of active quat, four and a half times the routine strength, and still demands the full 10 minutes of wet contact. There is no shortcut version of this claim, which is why we publish the full parvo protocol as its own page — and why we tell you to hand-measure it rather than trust a hose-end metering head.
The concentrate math
At 2 oz/gal, one gallon of ArkGuard (128 oz) makes up to 64 gallons of working solution; a quart makes up to 16. Put against ready-to-use sprays, the arithmetic isn’t close: a 32 oz trigger bottle of RTU disinfectant costs whatever it costs — the same 32 oz mixed from concentrate uses half an ounce of product. That’s the entire case for the funnel-and-bottle system: concentrate economics with RTU convenience.
The rules that ride along with every dilution
Pre-clean visible soil. Remove animals and feed first. Keep surfaces visibly wet for the full contact time. Air dry before animals return. Potable rinse on anything that touches food or water. Fresh solution daily. Nothing mixed in, ever.
